DAY (1) : ARRIVAL KYAING TONG ( – / – / – )
Arrival at Kyaing Tong Airport, transfer to your hotel. Kyaing Tong is well known for its scenic beauty and many colorful ethnic tribes. There are many villages of various ethnic tribes resided around Kyaing Tong. The tribes known as Gon, Lwe, Li, Wa, Lah Hu, Thai Nay, Shan, Li Shaw, Li Su, Palaung, Akha, and we can only differentiate the tribes by colourful dresses which is different to one another.
Then a short drive to highlight of Naung Tong Lake – it is center of the town and this picturesque lake is the perfect place to wonder along its little walkways and to soak up the atmosphere of the sleeping town. Enjoy your sunset at One Tree Hill (Thit Ta Bin Taung in Burmese name), where you’ll find a huge 250-year old tree and stunning view of Kyaing Tong. Return to your hotel.
DAY (2) : KYAING TONG SURROUNDING ( B / – / – )
Breakfast at hotel. This morning visit local Myo Ma Market – it is a marvelous place to see the hill tribes gathering to sell their produce as fresh vegetables, fruits, ethnic textile with their traditional dresses and various kinds of rice including mountain rice in red color etc. Today your tour will be full day trek. Drive out of Kyaing Tong and your tour head to Kattauk and Pin Tauk Village (approx. 1 ½ hours) where you’ll see colorful Akha and Lahu people. There you will see the church which built by Akha and Lahu after they converted to Catholicism. It will be the central feature of the village. Proceed to Wan Ping Village where you will enjoy an hour trek and first arrive to Akha Village of Naung Seng, where the inhabitants are Catholics. The Akha are largest minority in Kyaing Tong area and famous their colorful traditional costumes. From here, enjoy your fantastic views of the surrounding hillside. Another an hour trek to reach Ann Village of Panlor – most of the people in this village are animists. They still dress in their traditional black costumes and paint their teeth black. There you will see the totem and ‘nat’ (spirit) shrine in the middle of the village.
After that, 30-minute walk takes you to Wan Pin Village it is also Akha village and Akha women are famous for their striking headdresses which make by silver. The village has only a few houses and inhabitants welcome visitors. Continue trekking to Akha Village of Wang Lar, the people in this village are famous for their technique of hunting birds. Another 30-minute to the Nam Lin Kaung village where you’ll see Ann tribes and people in this village are animist. Walk to Nam Lin Mai Village which is very nicely located on Shan plateau overlooking the rice terraces and surrounding by shady trees. Walk back to the car through rice and vegetable fields. Return to your hotel.
DAY (3) : KYAING TONG SURROUNDING ( B / – / – )
Breakfast at your hotel. Today excursion to Hokyin Mountain (approx. 1 hour). From here, you’ll walk up about 2 hours which is well worth it for the stunning view of the surrounding hills and Kyaing Tong. From the top at 1300 meters, you can see four different Akha Villages. Some people are Buddhists, some Catholics and others are animists. There you will see elderly Akha women who still wear their traditional headdresses made from silver rupee coins. Visit to another Palaung Village and see the producing of rice wine with traditional technique in some villages. Along the way, you will pass through village to village and enjoy your trekking in nature.
Drive back to Kyaing Tong by car and visit lacquerware workshop. Shan lacquerware is distinctively different from that of Bagan it is black and not engraved. Make a photo stop at the huge standing Buddha. Return to your hotel.
DAY (4) : KYAING TONG DEPARTURE ( B / – / – )
Early morning, visit to Buffalo Market where water buffalo and several cattle are traded twice a week. This market is an interesting palace to wander and watch the negotiations. Continue visit to Maha Muni Pagoda – the most landmark of Kyaing Tong’s temple. Next stop to pottery village to observe the handicraft earthen pots of Shan tribes.
Transfer to Kyaing Tong Airport for your onward flight.
